Out and About

Coed Y Brenin Forest Centre is two miles down the road, hosting beautiful riverside walks and exciting mountain biking trails. There are numerous waterfalls in the area, and a great day out can be had riding on the gorgeous Ffestiniog, Tal Y Llyn, Corris and Welsh Highland narrow gauge railways.

There are excellent beaches at Barmouth, Black Rock Sands, Tal Y Bont and LLandanwg.  A little further away is Llanbedrog, complete with beach huts you can hire from the National Trust.

Cregennan Lakes are worth a visit, near Dolgellau at the foot of the majestic Cader Idris.

The area is rich in history, from mighty castles at Harlech and Criccieth, to the humble farm house home (and museum) of WW1 poet Hedd Wyn. Even the Romans have left some of their creations behind, kilns and the fort of Tomen Y Mur, near Trawsfynydd.

Trawsfynydd Lake provides good fishing and a scenic lakeside walk.

To help you get the most out of your stay at 'Caban Dan Y Ser' we have produced a 'quick start guide' which covers where everything is in the cabin and how it works, and also has useful information on places to visit, eating out, places of local interest and useful phone numbers.
